Frequently Asked Questions

How does the body scan work?

You take a single photo of yourself, and BodyMetric uses computer vision and AI analysis to estimate body fat percentage, posture, and a fit score from 0 to 100. The result is an educated estimate intended for self-tracking — it is not a medical measurement.

Is BodyMetric a medical device?

No. BodyMetric is a fitness and wellness app. Body composition estimates, training programs, and meal plans are educational, not diagnostic. Consult a doctor before starting any new training or nutrition regimen, especially if you have a medical condition.

How accurate are the body scan estimates?

Photo-based body composition estimates are approximate. Real-world accuracy depends on lighting, posture, clothing, and camera angle. Use BodyMetric for trend tracking rather than precise clinical measurement. For medical-grade body composition, consult a DEXA scan or hydrostatic weighing.

How is my data protected?

Your data is linked only to your account. We do not sell or share your information with advertisers, and we don't use third-party tracking SDKs. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my account and data?

Open the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, scan history, workout logs, and meal data from our cloud. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. To remove the local copy on your device, clear app storage or uninstall the app.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings → Export My Data to download a CSV file of your logged data (weight, workouts, meals, habits). You can do this at any time before deleting your account.

Does BodyMetric sync with Apple Health?

Yes. BodyMetric reads your daily step count from Apple Health so your activity totals stay in sync across your devices. The first time you open the Tracking page, you'll be asked to grant access — you can approve or deny each category individually, and you can revoke access anytime from iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → BodyMetric.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Email support@bodymetric.ai with:

How do I request a feature?

We read every feature request. Email support@bodymetric.ai with the subject line "Feature Request" and a brief description of what you want and why.

Why does the AI sometimes give different scan results?

Photo lighting, pose, framing, and clothing all affect the estimate. For the most consistent tracking, take scan photos under similar conditions: same lighting, same time of day, similar fitted clothing, and the same body position.

Why does BodyMetric need my photo?

The body scan is the foundation of BodyMetric. Your photo is used to estimate body composition (body fat range, posture), calculate your fit score, and calibrate your personalized training and nutrition plan. Without a scan, the app cannot generate the recommendations it's built around.

Your photo is transmitted securely to our AI provider for analysis and, if you're signed in, stored in your encrypted user profile so it re-displays on other devices. It is never used for advertising or AI model training. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how photos are handled.
